Emilia Garcia

As a Chicana artist, Emilia Garcia’s original goal was to provide the community with a line of greeting cards and candles depicting the beauty and culture of her indigenous ancestors. Due to her success her focus has now shifted to her original paintings, which have earned the attention of the international community. In 2004 she was nominated by the International Scientific Committee to exhibit her work in the 2005 Biennale of Contemporary Art in Florence, Italy.

When discussing her art Emilia explains, “My work is centered on the beauty of our culture, who we are and where we come from.” In her paintings, Emila tries to instill strength and love through depicting family and celebration while focusing on the spirit of women. Her use of vibrant colors and light also enhance the emphasis she places on her culture and femininity.
