Opening Reception
3:00 pm – 7:00 pm
ChimMaya has assembled these six ‘Chicano Master Artists’ in an extraordinary exhibition of their current work. Their murals, paintings and sculptures….have been discussed, studied, analyzed, published, and ‘undeniably’ been attributed to some of the most important contributions to the Chicano Art Movement.
Much of their work born of the 1970s, is as remarkable today….for its subject, technique, and depiction of everyday life….and is as relevant to today’s culture as when it debuted.
Each of these ‘Master’ artists has continued to stretch, grow and redefine their careers. Collectively….they have taught, mentored, and served as inspiration to many of the voices in today’s movement.
Their current work continues to redefine the boundaries of their vision. These new works….are as remarkable as their works of the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s,and early 2000s, and are destined to be added to many public and private collections.
