‘Nuestro Espiritu / Our Spirit is Timeless’
The Artwork of Rick Ortega
It’s been 7 years, since we last featured Rick Ortega in a solo exhibition in our gallery. Like many artists, the challenges of balancing work and family, often leaves him little time to focus on producing new artwork.
His favorite time to paint is during the stillness and quiet of night. He considers those hours sacred…private time, where he turns inward, allowing his creative spirit to take hold, and direct and inspire his process.
‘Nuestro Espirtu / Our Spirit is Timeless’ ….. celebrates Rick’s L.A./Latino roots. The emotion of the subjects he paints is portrayed through expressive faces, iconic city landmarks, and the atmosphere/romanticism of Los Angeles. Rick digs deep into the hearts of the people he portrays, touching on the very essence of their being.
As a ChimMaya Resident Artist, we’re pleased that Rick Ortega has continued to work with our gallery over the years, and excited to bring this new exhibition to our gallery!
